Here at The WIld Olive, we like to eat food with big flavor, but we also want to make healthy eating choices. The most common way to add flavor or bring out the flavor in a dish is with the three musketeers of unhealthy food: SUGAR (or, worse, High Fructose Corn Syrup), SALT & FAT (the bad kind...yes, there is such a thing as good fat). As you can see below, balsamic vinegar and olive oil are low in all of these enemies of health. And not only are these tasty treats not fighting your body as they enhance your food, they are actually helping your body help itself. Substitute Olive Oil for the fat (butter, shortening, etc) in your favorite recipe. And yes, you can even bake with it!


Butter = Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

1 TSP BUTTER = ¾ TSP of EVOO

2 TSP BUTTER = 1 ½ TSP of EVOO

1 TBSP BUTTER = 2 1/4 TSP of EVOO

2 TBSP BUTTER = 1 1/2 TBSP of EVOO

1/4 CUP = 3 TBSP of EVOO

1/2 CUP = 1/4 Cup + 2 TBSP of EVOO

1 CUP = 3/4 Cup of EVOO
